The Champ

You voted in round after round — and now, we have a winner.

October 4, 2017

Back in the spring, we had an idea — we wanted to find the best, juiciest burger in Edmonton. And we wanted every burger lover in town to weigh in.

In order to level the playing field, and ensure hungry burger aficionados could experience any burger in the bracket on any day of the week, we had two simple rules. First, the burger had to be a beef burger — no lamb, pork, chicken, bison, etc. There could be as many delectable toppings as the restaurant could fit on the burger, but it had to be a beef patty. Second, the burger had to be a regular feature on the restaurant’s menu — no specials only available once a week.

We brainstormed our favourite picks, and put out a call to you, our readers, asking for your suggestions. We took those suggestions and picks and created a 32 burger bracket, with competitors ranging from simple cheeseburgers to complex burgers topped with more toppings than you thought could ever be possible.

Then, we left it up to you — and the bracket was whittled down, little by little, until we had our Final Four. While everyone has different preferences when it comes to their ideal burger, one thing is for sure — Edmonton definitely cares about burgers. A lot.

Now, at last, we have a winner — Original Joe’s has snagged the title of Best Burger with their A.C.E. Cheeseburger. Check out the A.C.E. — as well as the other burgers that made the Final Four — in our November issue.
