Description

The Prince-Bishops of Salzburg ruled as secular princes. This exhibition highlights their dual authority - the princely sword and the bishop’s staff or crozier - and the basis of their economic power in their control of natural resources such as salt. On display are books printed from the 15th through the early-19th century, as well as coins minted under the authority of successive archbishops.
