Make your Fringe Festival plans

The Fringe Festival officially begins on August 17, with 11 days of theatrical performances and entertainment kicking off in Old Strathcona. Check out what’s playing, make your game plan — and include some time to stop for green onion cakes, obviously.

Check out a storytelling workshop at the Art Gallery of Alberta

On August 15, artist Marigold Santos comes to the AGA for a storytelling workshop, running in connection with the exhibition “for the time being: 2017 Alberta Biennial of Contemporary Art.” Santos will be discussing her personal immigration experience, and how the folklore she brought with her from the Philippines informs her work.

Learn to make English summer fare

If you want to take your tastebuds on a trip around the world, Get Cooking is the perfect spot to learn — and on August 15, Kathryn Joel and Elyse Chatterton are teaching you the basics of English Garden Party fare. Learn to make kedgeree, summer pudding and scotch eggs, and of course, how to pair with Pimms.
