On December 8, Loving Vincent debuts at the Garneau Theatre. The film explores the life and work of artist Vincent van Gogh through a fascinating animation process, in which 65,000 frames were hand painted by a collection of over 100 painters.

On December 4, MacEwan University’s Department of Music presents a Big Band Concert, with a repertoire that includes swing, Latin, funk and jazz styles. There will be performances by faculty, alumni, and students under the direction of Raymond Baril.

Alberta Ballet returns to the stage with a holiday staple, The Nutcracker, which kicks off on December 7. Visit the Kingdom of Sweets, see the graceful Sugar Plum Fairy, allow yourself to be enchanted by the cast of characters and more. The ballet classic is set to a Tchaikovsky score, played live by the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra.

On December 6, local author and storyteller Richard van Camp is hosting Voices of Amiskwaciy: Our Stories, an event honouring Indigenous stories, culture, community, history and education. The event will include the premiere of stories shared through the Voices of Amiskwaciy project.
