Director Ron Jenkins joins the University of Alberta’s Studio Theatre for a classic comedy, Nikolai Gogol’s The Government Inspector. The amusing political satire based in Czarist Russia thrills audiences with a case of mistake identity gone spectacularly awry — the production runs from February 9 to 18.

Moi, Monsieur, moi!, a co-presentation with Workshop West Playwrights’ Theatre and the Chinook Series, comes to the L’UniTheatre stage. This tale follows a young Senegalese girl through her difficult journey to adulthood in Africa. The production runs February 7 to 11.

Chef Stuart Whyte brings a menu to the Victoria Social Room at the Dogwood Café on February 8. Whyte, who is the chef at Dogwood Café and founder of Original Redhead Condiments, has crafted a menu featuring pork tamales, pork lengua tostada, and even a cookie featuring vanilla-lard icing.

On February 9, stop by The Bamboo Ballroom for their second annual GALentine’s Day Gala. The shopping event featuring local vendors gives you a chance to craft a custom fragrance sample with Libertine Fragrances, indulge in some nail art at the hands of Shangri-La Salon and more. Money raised at the event will go to the Stollery Children’s Hospital.

Lisa Brokop tackles the songbook of Patsy Cline in this production, in which Brokop takes the audience on a multi-media musical journey through some of Cline’s most memorable hits, as well as through some of her own original material
