Get in the giving holiday spirit

Homes for the Holidays, a festive fundraiser brought to you by Junior League of Edmonton, takes place from November 17 to 19. This event brings local designers together with decorators, volunteers and retailers to bring the holiday spirit to five stunning homes.

See a reinterpretation of a classic Greek myth

You’ve likely heard the tale of Orpheus and Eurydice at some point, but Hadestown takes an entirely different approach to the myth. In this production, which opens on November 11 and runs until December 3, the story is transformed into a steampunk musical infused with American folk and New Orleans jazz traditions.

Check out an exhibition that explores brilliant, tumultuous skies

From November 16 to December 9, Gregory Hardy’s latest exhibition “Of Sky and Water” will be at the Peter Robertson Gallery. His works aren’t your typical landscapes — he uses the intense color and physicality of the paint’s application to focus the viewer on the abstract quality of the work.

Experience a movie with live, in-sync orchestra accompanying it

If you haven’t yet seen the multi-Academy Award winning movie Amadeus, which explores the life of the legendary composer Mozart, you’ll have the chance to do so at Amadeus Live, a unique experience on November 17 and 18. It’s coming to a vast HD screen with his most celebrated works performed live in sync with the film by a full orchestra and choir.

Get some inspiration for festive treats

ATCO Blue Flame Kitchen’s latest cookbook, Holiday Collection 2017, is out, and on November 16 they’re hosting a ‘Gifts From The Kitchen’ workshop where you can learn to make edible gifts in a jar for giving — or simply for enjoying with friends and family.
