Coney Island Candy

Stock up on candy before you hit the tarmac

A one-stop shop for sugary treats, the wonderfully whimsical Coney Island Candy opened its second location and, fittingly for the Whyte Avenue bonbon purveyor, it’s in a district of Edmonton International Airport’s new Central Hall. Now passengers can buckle up, pig out on Laffy Taffy, obscure imports and gluten-free candy, and leave the evidence behind without anyone tsk-tsking them about cavities. After all, shop owner Samuel Sheinin just wants to see you smile.  “I wouldn’t want to own a dentist’s office,” Sheinin says. “Nobody’s happy after leaving one.” (1000 Airport Rd., 780-890-7337, coneyislandcandy.ca)
