I had the pleasure of attending the first ever LUX Beauty Boutique's "Suit Yourself" fundraising auction at the new High Street location (12531 102 Ave). Despite the wind, the sun was shining, and LUX's boutique — inside and out — was bustling with positive energy and fun.
The event was spearheaded by LUX owner Jennifer Grimm, who says the store's underlying philosophy meshes perfectly with the Suit Yourself organization. Grimm says LUX promotes confidence, self-acceptance, and female empowerment, which are also the goals set by Suit Yourself.
While LUX encourages women to find beauty products that help them embrace their inner beauty, Suit Yourself is a local charitable organization that collects and distributes quality clothing, for free, to low-income women looking for employment; giving them little boosts in positive directions.
Sixty different beauty baskets were donated by LUX and auctioned off for the charity. More than 100 guests bid on the goodies, which included hair, makeup, fragrance and body products from a number of popular lines, including Tosca, Curl Conscious, Jaqua, Eyemimo, Phyto Plage, Mario Badescu, and Cargo.
LUX was able to raise $3,000 for Suit Yourself, and was able to pass along beauty supply donations brought in by auction guests. The company hopes to make this fundraiser an annual event. For more information, visit www.suityourselfclothes.org and www.luxbeauty.com.
