Emma: Now, we’re picking up where we left off, reviewing some products from the new Kiehl’s store in Southgate Centre. The new extension is beautiful — really elegant and clean — if you have yet to check it out…

Rita: But right now, we’re checking out the Superbly Restorative Argan Body Cleansing Oil. The fair trade argan oil comes from a Moroccan womens’ co-op, by the way. This is a unique product: an oil that morphs into a creamy lathering cleansing oil.

E: Bizzare! I’ve heard of oils that are used for moisturizing purposes, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a cleanser quite like this — an oil-based solution.

R: The argan oil is used to keep moisture into the skin. With superbly restorative skin actually absorbs oil products more easily than with other solutions. Plus you can also use it for shaving.

E: Multi-functional!

R: I really enjoyed this product. I like it because when you come out of the shower, you don’t feel like you immediately have to slather on moisturizer. The cleanser doesn’t dry out your skin in the first place.

E: You have to be careful though, beause it is pretty runny, prone to slipping through your fingers in the shower, and then, you end up wasting it. Plus, you can go through this stuff really quickly.

R: And it doesn’t come cheap! I mean, it’s not overly extravagant, but it’s high-quality, high-end stuff, with a $49 price tag to match.

E: Next is Rita’s all-time favourite Kiehl’s product… drum roll please…

R: The Superbly Restorative Body Lotion!

E: What do you love about it?

R: The smell, first of all, is delicious! A mix of lemon and vanilla goodness. Plus it’s creamy but not heavy. And you can tell it has an oil base because of its richness. It’s luxurious, like a spa treatment that you can use everyday, all by yourself!

E: It’s also quite refreshing, which may seem strange to say about a deep moisturizer, but it’s true. What does it promise to do again?

R: It says it will restore softness and tonicity for radiant, healthy-looking skin “by using antioxidants and essential fatty acids that hydrate and reinforce skin's defenses against free-radical damage and help to improve skin's texture and tone.” Agreed.

E: And it damn well should be — if I may say so — with a cost of $49.00 for 200 mL!

R: What is it made of? Gold-plated unicorn babies?

E: Well, I hope they’re fair-traded, at the very least!

R: But it really is an effective, fabulous moisturizing line, made from some great all-natural ingredients, and harvested with a clean conscience.

Superbly Restorative Argan Body Cleansing Oil retails for $39.00 for 236 mL; Superbly Restorative Body Lotion retails for $49.00 for 200 mL.
