Zero Gravity International Performance Art SUMMIT
May 10 - May 19
We live in dangerous times. How can art rise above the gravity of the world to help us think in new ways? Next month, more than 10 internationally-renowned performance artists will descend on the city to answer this question at the Zero Gravity International Performance Art SUMMIT, an inaugural festival and workshop from Mile Zero Dance.
“The SUMMIT aims to create an artistic dialogue between Canadian and International Performance Arts right here,” says Gerry Morita, MZD’s Artistic Director. “We want Edmonton audiences to embrace performance art as it does with other disciplines and we hope to remove as many barriers as possible.”
The 2019 Zero Gravity International Performance Art SUMMIT, curated by multidisciplinary artist Beau Coleman and co-presented by Latitude 53 and dc3 Art Projects, features an eight-day workshop (May 10-17) and a four-day festival (May 16-19), consisting of both indoor and site-specific performances, artist talks, panels, and discussions.
Confirmed festival artists include: Cindy Baker (Canada), Hector Canonge (Argentina-United States), Beau Coleman (Canada), Dagmar I. Glausnitzer-Smith (Germany), Francesco Kiais (Italy-Greece), Matthieu Léger (Canada), Irene Loughlin (Canada), Carlos Martiel (Cuba), PASHIAS (Cyprus), Felix Roadkill (Germany), and Alexandra Zierle (Germany-United Kingdom).
The Zero Gravity International Performance Art FESTIVAL is by donation. Applications for the workshop close May 1, 2019. For more info about the workshop, visit: http://milezerodance.com/2017/2018-zero-gravity-workshop/
