A razor-sharp lyricist, alternately furious and humorous MC, and accomplished producer, Cube laid the foundation for the legacy of pioneering gangsta rap group N.W.A by writing "Boyz-N-the-Hood" for partner Eazy-E and making his first big splash as an MC with the subsequent "Dope Man."

The show draws heavily on the most acclaimed era of his career, from his self-titled album, Paul Simon in 1972 through to 1990 with The Rhythm of the Saints, however it doesn’t fail to include fan favourites from his seminal work as a part of the Hall of Fame folk-duo, Simon and Garfunkel.

Whether a long-time fan or a first time listener, there is truly something here for everyone. The dynamics of the show range from whisper-quiet, intimate moments, where the band breaks down to only voice and acoustic guitar, and climb all the way to the full-out, horn section-led dance anthems from the hit album, Graceland.

Edmonton’s Greenwood Singers, under the direction of Robert de Frece, closes its 40th season with Around the World, a program comprised of music from different times, places, and cultures.

The program will open with Willametta Spencer’s setting of John Donne’s poem, Around the Earth’s Imagined Corners. The journey continues with Late Renaissance part songs from Italy, Germany and England, followed by a collection of folk song arrangements and music composed for the Russian Orthodox Church.

The trip then explores the month of April in different parts of Europe and arrangements of popular songs about travel: Far Away Places, Come Fly With Me and Around the World. The concert will close with A Sentimental Journey Through the Forties, a medley of popular songs arranged by Hawley Ades, including such well-known favourites as It’s a Big Wide Wonderful World, Sentimental Journey and Somewhere Over the Rainbow, accompanied by Helen Stuart (piano), Jeff Johnson (bass) and Murray Smith (drums).
