Party Crasher: Animal Party

The Edmonton Valley Zoo’s Art in the Wild returns.

After taking a year off, Art in the Wild, the Edmonton Valley Zoo‘s popular fundraiser for its development society, returned on Sept. 8. The outdoor event brought over a dozen Alberta visual artists to sell their animal-inspired works throughout the zoo, among red panda cubs, barn owls and Lucy the elephant, who had her own exhibit and collaborated on new abstract works with local artist Tim Rechner. Regan Dean, event organizer and board member of the Valley Zoo Development Society, says there are more events like it to come, each helping fund the zoo’s forthcoming phases. The first new addition to open, Arctic Shores, will include enclosures for seals, sea lions and arctic foxes, and should be ready early next year.
