Teddy’s Reopens With a New Look But the Same Great Steak We Know and Love

And if you enter Teddy’s in the mood for something other than a steak, the Reuben sandwich is filling enough for both lunch and dinner.

Let’s face it. Teddy’s is an institution. To discuss old-school steakhouses in Edmonton and not mention this Jasper Avenue landmark would be akin to discussing gravity without mentioning Newton.

Teddy’s reopened in the spring of 2019 after a flood forced a prolonged closure — and renovation. Yes, like you, when I first heard that Teddy’s was getting a makeover, I was scared. There was something altogether special about walking into a restaurant that was a 1970s time capsule.

The new-look Teddy’s is more airy; the booths aren’t enclosed and there’s a spacious lounge smack dab in the middle of the main floor.

But, come on, in the end you’re not going to Teddy’s to discuss the design of the place. You’re going for steak. And Teddy’s still delivers. There’s the steady lunch deal of a steak sandwich with a starter soup; the meat is well prepared and served on a piece of garlic toast that takes up half the plate.

If you enter Teddy’s in the mood for something other than a steak, the Reuben sandwich is filling enough for both lunch and dinner, with corned beef stacked more than generously in between the bread.
