Enjoy food and decor from a different place and time

The moment you step through the front doors of Partake, you feel like you’ve been transported into another time period entirely — in the best possible way. In an era of restaurants with sleek Scandinavian-inspired design, the cozy atmosphere is a breath of fresh air. From the arched doorways to the bay window to the vintage-looking light fixtures, the space has a certain je ne sais quoi. Chef Cyrille Koppert and restaurateur Lisa Dungale, two staples of the Edmonton food scene who own Urban Diner and the recently shuttered Manor Bistro, have crafted a great spot for a glass of wine and a few bites.

Start your experience with a glass of wine or cocktail. The wine list is constantly changing, and carefully curated — there are plenty of interesting picks. And, in the name of hospitality, you’ll even get a few complimentary bites with your drink while you decide what to order.

The Duchesse potatoes are a must try — crisp on the outside, soft and silky smooth on the inside, and served with a delicious aioli. Even the seasonal vegetables, a humble dish you could easily overlook, is mouthwatering. During the winter, a plate of perfectly roasted Brussels sprouts and beets came drizzled with a sauce soubise (a béchamel sauce with caramelized onions) so addictive it would convince you to love just about any vegetable. And, if you’re looking for showmanship, the beef tartare can’t be missed. The roughly ground beef is combined with egg yolk, capers for a hint of tang, mustard, chives, and a beet-barley relish, and is mixed tableside and served with crostini. The dessert menu rotates as well, but on a recent visit, a crème brulee delicately seasoned with lemon and thyme was the perfect fresh finish to the meal.

Whether you’re looking to craft your own inventive cheese and charcuterie board from the rotating line-up of offerings, or want to indulge with a French onion soup or coq au vin, you’ll find something to pique your interest.
