Work Out at Home: Local Gyms and Studios Offering Online Sessions

More and more of us are turning rooms into home gyms; here is a list of Edmonton trainers offering online classes, and ideas on where to get your gear.

Going online with Om Hot Yoga.

Just because we’re self-isolating doesn’t mean we want to sit in front of the couch and binge-watch television series after television series. There is currently an overwhelming demand for fitness equipment, from weights to yoga mats to lifecycles to treadmills. Some shops have had to temporarily shutter their online ordering as they can’t keep up with demand.

More and more of us are turning rooms into home gyms; here is a list of Edmonton trainers offering online classes, and ideas on where to get your gear. (Please check the websites or social media for any changes to online classes.)


ATHX has created some at-home programs including basic fitness programs, custom programs and youth sport-specific programs. Rental equipment to assist in home-gym execution is also available such as weights, spin bikes, rowers and more.

Black Tusk Athletics

Located on 124th Street, the Crossfit gym is offering online workouts titled #BlackTuskAtHome, and is currently developing a new online-based training program with options for customized workouts.

The Bridge

Offering “telerehab” appointments for both physiotherapy treatments, and strength and conditioning services.

Fit Chicks YEG

The fitness collective currently offers workout video series on its Instagram page, presented by its co-founders, Sandy Yoo and Leanna Carriere. 

Flaman Fitness 

Flaman Fitness stores in Alberta currently remain open — check the website for future updates and updated hours. Online orders have been stopped temporarily.


A local fitness collective that consists of a dozen personal trainers, offers online workouts and programs on its website.

Krav Maga Solution 

The instructors of this self-defense program are currently working on bringing the classes online. Check their Instagram page for more updates.

No More Excuses Fitness 

The studio is offering yoga and meditation online classes, and will eventually be offering Kid’s Korner classes.

Om Hot Yoga

You can sign up for online yoga classes using the Mindbody app, and participate in classes through Zoom.

Physique Fitness 

The family-owned stores sell cardio, strength, boxing equipment and more. Both south and west locations currently remain open.

Prana Yoga Studio 

The studio has begun offering free live classes at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. on their new online studio last week.

True Movement 

Located on Stony Plain, the studio specializes in Garuda and Pilates. This week, the studio will begin offering online Garuda Mat classes.

Yogalife Studios 

The studio is temporarily switching to online practices and will be offering 2-4 live classes every day through Zoom, starting this week.

Your Body Your Weigh 

The local specialized personal training service offers a 12-week online coaching and workout program.
